The EAGL (East Atlantic Gymnastics League) Preseason Poll was released on Wednesday. Now, the WCGA (Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association) has released their Preseason Coaches Poll (Friday). NC State has been selected the head coaches of the league as the odds on favorite to win this season’s title. Among the 8 teams North Carolina is tied for third place wit Temple and Pittsburgh is ranked seventh.
Gymnastics for schools in the ACC in recent years has meant creating their own league in which to compete. It’s been that way since 1995. Things will change in a couple of years with the addition of a women’s gymnastics team at Clemson. With the Tigers joining NC State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh they’ve qualified as the 28th sponsored team sport that comes under the ACC umbrella.

NC State won the 2021 regular season title while Temple is the defending 2021 tournament champion. EAGL challenges begin on Friday, January 7. North Carolina will host Auburn, Bowling Green and NC State. Meanwhile, Temple will host the Keystone Classic with Pennsylvania, Penn State and Pittsburgh visiting.
