Soccer | Cardinals, Devils, Noles Top ’26 Women’s Rankings

The 2026 Preseason ACC Women’s Soccer Composite Rankings blends three independent sources: The ACC Coaches Poll (50%), Top Drawer Soccer’s (TDS) Top 25 (25%) and the United Soccer Coaches poll (25%). Composite rankings often disagree with polls and when they do we’ll explain why without expecting you to just ‘trust the number’.

Our story is that the composite is overruling the coaches. Now let’s get into why. Notre Dame ran away with the ACC Coaches Poll earning seven of 17 first-place votes and 239 points. But, the blend drops the Irish to 4th and installs Stanford at No. 1. When looking at all three sources our first red flag is that all of them crown a different team. The conference coaches say Notre Dame, the national coaches say Stanford and TDS’ analysts say that defending NCAA Champion Florida State should be at No. 1.

Stanford wins the composite because it’s the only one of the four elites with no soft spot. The national coaches poll says, No. 1, Top Drawer Soccer says, No. 2 and the ACC coaches say, No. 2. Let’s not forget that the Cardinal are the reigning ACC Champion having beaten the Irish in the 2025 final. Meanwhile, Top Drawer Soccer has Notre Dame sliding and rank them at No. 9 and frankly, that’s enough off the beaten path here to re-think a No. 1 spot. Granted, it’s the only outlier but it is a demotion otherwise the other sources look at the Irish as first or second.

ACC Nation 2026 Women’s Soccer Composite Rankings-Top 10

soccer women card
  • Stanford (Up 1, No. 1): national coaches No. 1, Top Drawer Soccer’s No. 2 and ACC Coaches No. 2. No other source outside the top 2. Reigning ACC champions.
  • Duke (Up 1, No. 2): consistency with all three sources ranking the Blue Devils third. No drama, no weakness for the composite to punish.
  • Florida State (Up 1, No. 3): defending national champion and Top Drawer Soccer’s No. 1 team in the country but the coaches slotted them only fourth. Biggest coaches-vs-analyst gap at the top of the board.
  • Notre Dame (Down 3, No. 4): still the ACC coaches runaway favorite and the national No. 2, but TDS’ No. 9 is the anchor. Let’s frame this honestly. Two of three sources love the Irish while the composite flags them based on an independent board where they aren’t sold.
  • Below the top six: For the moment the composite rankings board tracks the coaches poll. With ACC action in full swing this weekend the data will begin to flow to support any movement.
