The latest NWCA Top 25 wrestling rankings feature only three ACC teams this week after an upset. There’s plenty of opportunity for further shifts in the poll with this weekend’s action in conference. On Friday, NC State travels to Pitt for a meet set to air on the ACC Network beginning at 7:00pm ET. North Carolina heads to Virginia Tech to take on the Hokies with that event beginning at the same time.
North Carolina moves up three notches while Pitt drops from No. 19 to just outside the top 25 at No. 26 following a 19-12 victory for the Tar Heels. The two teams traded upsets. In the 133lb. weight class No. 23 Joe Heilman of North Carolina defeated No. 7 Micky Phillippi. In the 141lb. weight class No. 17 Cole Matthews of Pitt returned the favor with a win over No. 6 Kizhan Clarke. Both were 3-2.

North Carolina sent their Seniors off with a perfect 6-0 home record for the season with their win over Pitt. The win boosted them to No. 21 in this week’s NWCA Top 25 polling.
