The College Football Playoff rankings have reached week five. It’s the next to last release to determine the placement of teams in bowls and the top four getting their shot at a national championship. NCAA football over the past few weeks has been, as always, a bit over the top. It’s most fun when no one knows exactly what’s happening next. We’ve certainly gotten a good dose of that with major changes in coaching from coast to coast. Players are hitting the transfer portal as well. Next year won’t look the same. It will have a different feel to it. We might not like it now but we’ll look back in a few years and be glad we took the path less traveled.
The ACC+1 has five teams in the top 20 of the CFP Rankings. Which of these will have a shot at a New Year’s Six bowl? Two teams hold the future in their hands this weekend. The winner between the two will reap the rewards that come with rankings and the exposure from playing in a major bowl. Two other teams could end up being matched with opponents in their bowls that could be more interesting than that of the current crop of top-tier teams.
