Across ACC softball there are team adjustments galore from players to multiple coaching changes. The new faces among the coaching ranks include Jenny Allard, an NFCA Hall of Famer who comes to Pitt from Harvard, Megan Smith Lyon, a former Tar Heel player who makes the move from Marshall to North Carolina and Lindsay Leftwich, a former assistant at LSU who has taken the reins at NC State.

Last season’s NCAA Softball Tournament count for the conference was six teams with one making it to the WCWS. Will we see a similar scenario play out this year? Last season was very competitive within the ACC and even though only three teams have been selected for the D1Softball Preseason Top 25 there’s more than a good chance more will be ranked as the season kicks off.

Changes

Three teams will jump right into shark-infested waters as the season opens on on Thursday, February 8. Duke, a preseason No. 8 will take on No. 1 Oklahoma in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. On Friday, Virginia Tech faces off with No. 19 Auburn and on Saturday, Pitt goes head to head with No. 17 LSU. ACC Softball Schedule.

What The Hell ACC? | Bumbling Misery Of ’24 Basketball

A few players to keep an eye on this season. Clemson pitcher Valerie Cagle returns and it promises to be quite the year for reigning National Player of the Year and over at Duke be sure to watch the progression of Ana Gold and Aminah Vega. There will some changes at Virginia and Louisville this spring as well that are worthy of your attention. Both teams lost a number of players and have had to replace some staff. Will the off-season changes be enough to keep them competitive?
