ACC Nation Staff @accnation –

Time to turn off the cruise control and punch it. It’s pedal to the metal time. There are some minor adjustments in the ACC+1 rankings in the ACC Nation Power Poll week eleven. At this point of the season making major adjustments for the sake of making them is somewhat pointless. We’ll let others roll out that slippery slide and deal with the inadvertent injuries that come from making ‘hype’ changes. ACC teams have worked hard to make it to this point. There may well be a stumble or two left but for the most part we’re closing in on the final chapter of this story.

There’s more Power Poll punditry in store for you this week which may or may not include some blunt assessments. This week’s ACC Media Guide delivers the schedule along with the way you can watch or listen.

ACC Nation Power Poll Panel Punditry

Jim Bresnahan – “Pitt by 10 over North Carolina. Looking forward to Pitt/NC State ACC title game.”

Mike Lewis – “North Carolina has a little wind at their backs. Heels win in a shootout.”

Jim Quist – “Can the Tar Heels be the spoiler here? Don’t see it. Pitt, when on their game is the more well rounded team.”

Mike Lewis – “Finally a game the Tiger Paws can put up big offensive numbers.”

Jim Quist – “I’m not a fan of using the term, ‘cupcake’. I thought the ACC had successfully started moving away from scheduling these kind of games and of all teams to have one at this point in the season. Clemson?”

Jim Bresnahan – “Clemson by 35 over UConn. Don’t think Clemson’s offense is capable of scoring 39 or 40.”

Jim Quist – “Always thought this (Syr@Lou) would be an evenly matched game. Not much has changed my mind. Progress, in small steps by both teams this season duly noted.”

Mike Lewis – “Orange has a solid defense that travels and Tucker running the ball to keep Cunningham’s touches to a minimum.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Louisville by 4 over Syracuse. Two more inconsistent squads so this score might be reversed.”

Mike Lewis – “I have no idea what to expect here. Right now, VT is only playing for a low bowl invite and role as a spoiler. Is it enough to bring intensity to win?”

Jim Bresnahan – “Virginia Tech by 15 over Duke even though Hokies are inconsistent and no one should lose to Duke!”

Jim Quist – “Unless the Hokies locker room has been completely lost this is a done deal.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Florida State over Miami by 5 just because of the rivalry and past Miami inconsistencies. I’m banking on the inconsistency factor.”

Mike Lewis – “This should be a close game. Van Dyke is playing with terrific confidence. Canes remain mathematically in Coastal title hunt.”

Jim Quist – “Florida State isn’t quite there….yet. Miami has some incredible momentum.”

Mike Lewis – “Edge to Georgia Tech. At home and speed to exploit match ups on offense.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Boston College by 3 over Georgia Tech. I would have said a tie, if ties were allowed.”

Jim Quist – “Has Collins gotten over his media obsession long enough to make critical adjustments for the win? Home field advantage comes into play here over a tenacious Boston College.”

Mike Lewis – “Edge to State on defense will be the difference.”

Jim Quist – “The Pack’s defense needs to step up in a major way to shut down the Wake Forest offense. Best hope for either of these two teams is to take advantage early and often, run up the score and hold on tight. Deacs eke out a close one.”

Jim Bresnahan – “NC State by 6 over Wake. Could go either way and tough for Pack to play another road game back to back weeks.”

Jim Quist – “This weekend Virginia has a golden opportunity to stir up that Scott Stadium magic and pull out a win over Notre Dame. I think it’s in the cards so I’ll go with the Hoos in a shootout win over the Irish.”

Mike Lewis – “Expect Armstrong to be held out. Staff places premium on winning Coastal. Irish OL too strong for UVA’s D-front. 3 or 4 different players could take snaps in Brennan’s absence.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Notre Dame over UVA by 6. Cavs an underdog at home but Irish have been more reliable than the ACC squads this fall.”
