The biggest in-conference matchup has the Tar Heels, ranked No. 10 in the AP Preseason Top 25 travelling to Blacksburg to take on the un-ranked Hokies. It’s a Friday night game and if fans can survive a trip down the abomination known as Interstate 81the stadium will be rocking. With the first few notes of AC/DC’s ‘Enter Sandman’ the rumble at Lane Stadium will, once again, be recorded on the seismograph at Virginia Tech.

Another close to in-conference game has the No. 9 Notre Dame Irish headed to Tallahassee for a Sunday night game. Doak Campbell Stadium is ready to see the return of a competitive Florida State. The Seminoles are on the rebound but is it too early to expect the unexpected from Mike Norvell’s team? Irish fans travel well and it will be interesting to see how much garnet and gold is in the stands as opposed to blue, gold and green.

On Saturday it’s ACC vs SEC with two incredible opening games between Top 25 teams. The Duke’s Mayo Classic features No. 3 Clemson vs No. 5 Georgia in Charlotte. The Tigers have been holding a slim 3.5 point advantage in betting lines. Those same folks who put their money where their mouths are aren’t as bullish on the second of the two games. The Chick-fil A Kickoff in Atlanta has No. 14 Miami taking on No. 1 Alabama. So far the spread is at 19.5 in favor of the Crimson Tide. It’s the opener for all four teams so the likelihood of some rust in the opening half is high. None of these teams can afford to allow their opponent to take off on them early.

The last of the ACC vs SEC games comes in the second Chick-fil A Kickoff game in Atlanta with Louisville and Ole Miss. Neither team is ranked however Ole Miss is two notches out of being a Top 25 team in the latest poll. This matchup on Monday wraps up the Labor Day weekend schedule of ACC college football.
