Virginia Locks Down Votes

Virginia Locks Down Votes

It may be hard to believe but there are only two AP Top 25 polls left in this season. The final regular season rankings reflected in Week 18 and then the post season finale that comes after the dust settles on the NCAA Tournament. The journey this year for Virginia has been nothing less than strange. After starting off seemingly unworthy of a spot in the preseason poll, the Cavaliers have climbed into the driver’s seat and are locking down even more First Place Votes each week.

The men from Charlottesville hold firmly onto the keys of the castle grabbing six more votes to make their total 48. Michigan State loses two votes but is the only team, aside from the Cavaliers with First Place Votes. The Spartans received 17 this week in the poll.

There are four ACC teams with spots in the Top 25 and another three just outside in the Receiving Votes category.

Duke holds steady with a top 5 position this week plus North Carolina continues to yo-yo with a minor climb. Clemson drops three spots following a loss in Blacksburg.

Speaking of the Hokies, they join NC State and Florida State in the RV category. Key late season runs haven’t hurt these three teams but it will still be important for them to have a good showing in the ACC Tournament.
