United Soccer Women’s Top 25 – Players Of The Week

The ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors go to North Carolina’s Alessia Russo. Duke’s Schuyler DeBree and the Tar Heels’ Julia Ashley have earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Breaking a scoreless tie against Miami, Russo delivered a goal with under three minutes left in the game for the Tar Heels. North Carolina went on to win 3-0. Against Wake Forest, Russo delivered two goals in the 2-0 decision. The three goal weekend raises the bar to seven goals on season for Russo.

The Blue Devils DeBree helped lead Duke to a couple of shutouts over the weekend. Helping lead her team to a 2-0 win against both NC State and Florida State, DeBree logged 90 minutes in each game making it 10 straight.

With Ashley’s assistance, the North Carolina defense rolled to their fifth shutout with wins over Miami and Wake Forest. Ashley helped lead the defense in suppressing the Miami offense to six shots and four shots by Wake Forest. Additionally, her assists on goals in each game included the game winner by Russo over the Demon Deacons.
