NCAA Woman Of The Year

NCAA Woman Of The Year

This year’s nominee list includes fourteen candidates from ten ACC schools. There are a record 581 nominees for the NCAA Woman of the Year award this year. The program honors athletes who stand out in academics, athletics, service and leadership.

The ACC list of sports represented includes softball, ice hockey, cross country, track and field and beach volleyball. It also includes soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, lacrosse and rowing.

The award provides schools an opportunity to honor their top graduating student-athletes each year. This year, nominees competed in 20 different sports across three NCAA divisions. Additionally, there are a record 170 nominees who participated in more than one sport.

Each conference will select up to two nominees for Woman of the Year. Then, a selection committee will choose the Top 30 with each division having ten representatives.

The next step finds the selection committee choosing the top 3 honorees from each division.

The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will select the 2018 Woman of the Year from that grouping. That announcement will be at the annual award ceremony in Indianapolis, October 28.
