NBA (Mock) Draft

With just a few hours left before the official opening of the NBA Draft, or that which the public is privy to at least. College players will find out where the next stop will take them as they join the pro’s. The draft is tonight (Thursday, June 21) at 7:00p E on ESPN.

We’ll dip not only into the Sporting News Mock Draft but also take a look at a consensus Mock Draft from NBA.com. We’re also going to jump into Forbes where their SportsMoney section looks at what the oddsmakers think of the picks.

Earlier this week the guys at ACC Nation Podcast (Will, Xayveon and Jim) took a look at Sports Illustrated’s Top 100 prospects list. Specifically, the players from the ACC and where they might rank in the draft. If you have 30+ minutes to put in your ear buds it’s worth the listen.

Everyone Can Agree

The Sporting News Mock Draft wasn’t part of the list for the Consensus Mock Draft put together at NBA.com. No sense in skewing the numbers. Here’s a list of sources used in their draft.

  • Basketball Insiders
  • CBS Sports
  • Bleacher Report
  • Net Scouts
  • ESPN

What Are The Odds?

The final journey takes us to Forbes where some interesting lines (betting odds) regarding picks are shared. It appears the oddsmakers are all sold on Deandre Ayton as the top pick in the draft. Marvin Bagley made it to #4 on that list.

The numbers aren’t quite as solid for Marvin Bagley at #2 though he is at the top of the list. He’s pushed a bit by Real Madrid’s Luka Doncic who has created a lot of attention.

While multiple 2018 prospects are openly saying they would like to avoid going to the Kings, Bagley wants the team to draft him.
