With 24 first place votes the Eagles start the season off with an almost unanimous nod as the team to beat as the season approaches. ACC rival North Carolina pulls two first place votes and joins Boston College, Syracuse and Notre Dame in the initial top tier of the five best teams in the nation.

Duke and Virginia hold spots upper echelon as well. The Blue Devils find themselves in the top 10 while the Cavaliers are in the top 15.
Syracuse takes on a top 15 Stanford to open the season on Friday, February 11. The highlight of the weekend is Boston College facing off with a top 5 Northwestern.
