With each win in volleyball you earn the right to celebrate. One whiff and you suffer the consequences. Three conference teams started out in the AVCA Volleyball Preseason Top 25 and three remain but in slightly different quarters. Louisville and Georgia Tech ascend to the top 5 in the rankings while Pitt falls to No. 10.
The Panthers stumbled out of the gate with a loss to San Diego, 3-2 and it was enough to drop four spots from their preseason position.

So far, so good for both the Cardinals and Yellow Jackets as they lay claim to some heady territory in the poll.
Volleyball
When it comes to teams receiving votes and just outside the Top 25 only Miami remains out of three that began the preseason. North Carolina and Florida State both suffered losses taking them off the radar. The Tar Heels fell to Colorado State, 3-1 in their opener and then Northern Colorado, 3-0. Meanwhile, the Seminoles, were in a groove up until this past weekend when they dropped to Cincinnati, 3-1.
