Hokies Crash Party

Hokies Crash Party

The top tier of ACC basketball received notice that conference play has never and will never be a breeze. Virginia Tech decided to crash the party picking up their first big win, 80-69, over #10 North Carolina. The Hokies went into the half with the lead and never looked back in the second half.

It was the first win in the series against the Tar Heels since February of 2010. It brings a seven game skid to an end.

Rebounding and turnovers were the key to the win for Virginia Tech. The Hokies out rebounded North Carolina and kept their turnovers to just nine.

Justin Robinson led the offensive side with 19 points for the Hokies. Ahmed Hill popped 18 and Kerry Blackshear, Jr. nailed 16 in the winning effort. Chris Clarke led Virginia Tech with 8 rebounds.

Luke Maye and Joel Berry delivered 23 points each for the Tar Heels.

“I feel the same way right now that I felt the last time I was in Virginia. The University of Virginia kicked our rear rends and I felt like that tonight. They were much more aggressive physically, mentally. I feel like I’m spending too much time coaching energy level, ” said UNC coach Roy Williams.
