When it comes to college baseball recruiting how do ACC teams rank? We take a look at three years of recruiting classes and the rank of each team in those years to get a better picture. With the national rankings from 2021, 2022 and 2023 we get an idea who’s on their game on the recruiting trail. That’s the wide angle view. Ultimately, it’s the microscopic analysis that tells the tale. There’s only one team out of the ACC that is consistently in the top 10 each year. That’s Florida State. Are the Seminoles knocking it out of the park with the number of Top 100 picks? No, but the quality of their recruits is making up the difference.

As the saying goes, it’s not how big it is, it’s what you do with it and that is certainly true with recruiting classes. The 2021 class finds Clemson and Virginia with the largest selection of Top 100 players. In 2022, it’s Louisville and in 2023 Miami is the dominant force. What will these teams do to capitalize on their recruiting booty? Are trips to Omaha and ultimately a College World Series title in their futures?

On the other end of the spectrum what teams are struggling with their recruiting efforts? The northern tier teams of the ACC are challenged by weather restrictions among other things. Has that prevented them from having successful seasons? No, and a look back at last season has multiple positives. Notre Dame and Pitt had pretty solid regular seasons while Boston College’s Sal Frelick was the 15th pick in latest MLB Draft. Irish skipper Link Jarrett was named D1Baseball’s Coach of the Year after taking a preseason bottom of the basement ranked team to the Super Regionals. While Pitt rose as high as No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
