It’s time to bowl for dollars. There could be danger lurking in these games, though. With players opting out, transferring and moving on to the NFL Draft the potential for damage to a program’s prestige and recruiting efforts is real. Which of these teams have kept a solid roster? How about their coaching staff? They aren’t immune to moving on either.
The earliest bowl game for an ACC team provided just such a snapshot. Louisville and Cincinnati provided this year’s case study. The Cardinals romped to a 24-7 win over the Bearcats in the Fenway Bowl ensuring that their former coach, Scott Satterfield, was sent off to Cincinnati with the door hitting him on the way out.

What games involving the ACC + 1 teams are left on the schedule? Quite a few and there are some fabulous matchups. But again, what about those multiple factors noted above? No one wants to watch their team get shellacked by a team that shouldn’t even be in a bowl. Fortunately, this year’s matchups are far from being Cream of Wheat weak.
