Florida State’s Scottie Barnes was the fourth selection in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft Thursday. Barnes was the choice of the Toronto Raptors. A total of four ACC men’s basketball players were first round picks. In addition to Barnes, Virginia’s Trey Murphy III, Duke’s Jalen Johnson and North Carolina’s Day’Ron Sharpe were also selected. Three players from the conference were picked up in the second round. They include Louisville’s David Johnson, Florida State’s Balsa Koprivica and his teammate, RaiQuan Gray. These seven weren’t the only players offered contracts as the undrafted have been made offers as well. The list, as has been the case in years past will likely grow over the next few days with some opting to play overseas.

Barnes, a freshman had slowly risen into the projected Top 5 picks list of multiple mock drafts. He comes off his single year as a Seminole as the ACC Freshman of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year. His projected first year rookie salary is estimated at $6,067,100 with bumps each year through year 3 and a significant increase likely in year 4.
