ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament

The 41st annual ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament gets underway Wednesday, February 28 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Three games, featuring North Carolina against Boston College, Georgia Tech vs Clemson and Wake Forest facing Pitt open the five day event.

Conference co-champions Louisville and Notre Dame hold the #1 and #2 seeds. Both teams will see action on Friday, March 2 (see schedule below).

Before we delve into the tournament action, we’ll take a look at the final regular season AP Top 25, the current NCAA RPI and the Sagarin Rankings of ACC teams. All of these numbers may come into play for teams that need a boost to get into the NCAA Tournament. How they perform in the upcoming conference tournament could impact their final standing with the selection committee.

In the Top 25, the top 5 teams in the poll remain the same. The team to beat this season has been UConn. The Huskies have been a roadblock to not only the top two teams in the ACC but seemingly anyone who steps up to take a shot at them. Though Notre Dame and Louisville both lost to UConn it did afford them an opportunity to get a feel for their game and analyze their strategies. That may well come in handy should either team meet UConn again in the NCAA Tournament.
