ACC Nation Staff @accnation –

When we reach the ACC Nation Power Poll Week Ten mark it means the CFP Rankings have been released and Thanksgiving is mere weeks away. We know teams have been serious about winning games since week one. Finding the right mix and getting into a rhythm often takes until mid-season for some teams. While others have been cooking along just fine since the first kick-off. At this point in the season it’s time to find the serious switch and lock it in for the remaining weeks. Anyone who wants a piece of the post-season pie needs to step up and make a claim. Otherwise, you become the Turkey who’s about to get stuffed.

In addition to the numbers we’ve got plenty of Power Poll Panel Punditry. This week we add in Jim Bresnahan’s Top 5 Inconsistent ACC Teams. It’s a look at the overrated and most frustrating conference teams so far this season. What’s on the menu this weekend? Check out the ACC Media Guide for the schedule and opening odds on favorites to win.

ACC Nation Power Poll Panel Punditry

Mike Lewis – “Hokies still have lots of fight remaining in them. Despite all the talk of Fuente’s firing at end of season. BC’s season is coming undone.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Eagles win. Relying on the Hokies’ inconsistency.”

Jim Quist – “After all the air that has been let out of the Hokies’ fanbase the players are still in it. The head coaching spot? It doesn’t really matter. It’s all about pride from hereon out.”

Jim Bresnahan – “If Wake could win out, could be a solid contender for a spot in the playoffs, with losses by Bama, Oregon and Oklahoma.”

Jim Quist – “The Tar Heels go in as the favorite among oddsmakers. They know how to take your money. What does your gut tell you about this game?”

Mike Lewis – “This is a non-conference game, but Deacs have much more to play for, even with game played in blue heaven.”

Jim Quist – “It’s a one-man show for Duke but one man doesn’t make a team. Pitt is in the CFP Top 25 and this is step one of staying there.”

Mike Lewis – “Dookies are a dead team walking. Game gives Pitt a chance to find some answers on defense.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Panthers by 28!”

Jim Bresnahan’s Top 5 Inconsistent ACC Teams

These are the top 5 teams that can be relied upon to frustrate fans. The inability to put together 2 to 3 good games leaves a bad taste and further convinces pundits that the conference is the lesser among the Power 5.

  • 1 – North Carolina
  • 2 – Pitt
  • 3 – NC State
  • 4 – Virginia
  • 5 – Virginia Tech

Mike Lewis – “Van Dyke keeps improving by the week. Miami is riding a good momentum wave.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Miami heading upwards, Georgia Tech coming off a loss as a favorite. Seems like Miami by 10-15 points but…..”

Jim Quist – “I think Miami has found a spark. It’s something they’ve known was there but just couldn’t find the flint. Canes are on a roll here and I say, watch out!”

Jim Bresnahan – “Florida State are playing much better. Can we rely on one of my inconsistent teams?”

Jim Quist – “It’s always frustrating when things begin to come together but it’s late in the season. An upset by the Seminoles could go a long way in building for tomorrow. The injury bug has bitten the Pack hard. Next man up.”

Mike Lewis – “Most intriguing game. Hard to know how FSU will respond to the Clemson loss. State has plenty to play for.”

Jim Quist – “Sometimes is just isn’t about how you won – ugly or pretty – it’s just that you won. Welcome to 2021 Notre Dame football.”

Mike Lewis – “The Irish are methodically disposing lesser opponents. Middies should fall into that same pattern.”

Jim Bresnahan – “Going to go out on a limb and pick Clemson to falter on the road.”

Jim Quist – “Oh Clemson, Where Art Thou?”

Mike Lewis – “Tiger Paws are slowly finding their way. Cards are too inconsistent.”
