Omaha | It’s Been 7 Years. Confident ACC Tastes A Title

Omaha

In 2015 Brian O’Connor led Virginia to Omaha and a College World Series (CWS) title. This year 9 ACC teams are among the 64-team field that gets underway with Regionals on Friday. Louisville, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia Tech each earned a No. 1 seeding with the Hokies the highest ranked out of the conference at No. 4. Miami ranked 6th, North Carolina 10th and Louisville 12th.

In addition to the aforementioned four, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest earned No. 2 seeds while Florida State is a No. 3 seed. It’s the 44th consecutive appearance in the Tournament for the Seminoles, which holds standing as the longest streak in the nation. Will the Martin family tradition continue all the way to Omaha?

It’s not like any of the teams selected are in unfamiliar territory either. Both Georgia Tech and North Carolina are making their 34th appearances while the newcomer to the tournament are the Hokies with 11 visits.
