The Noles, Tigers and Panthers supplied four of the twenty-four players drafted in the 2023 Women’s Professional Fastpitch league’s first ever in-person event (complete ACC list below) in Oklahoma City Monday night. It’s yet another sign of the growth and popularity of college softball in the ACC. The latest D1Softball Top 25 features three conference teams in the top 10.
Florida State, often a mainstay among collegiate softball competitors holds onto a top 5 spot with the up and coming Clemson Tigers rounding third and heading home. Is there room for more than one team on the plate? With less than a month before the ACC Softball Championship at Notre Dame we’re about to find out just how scrappy teams can be.

Florida State, Clemson and Duke are the top three teams in the latest ACC standings. The Noles are 13-2 in the conference and 35-8 overall while the Tigers are 14-4 in the ACC and 40-5 overall. Duke has an in-conference mark of 13-5 with a 36-8 overall record on the season.
Virginia Tech fell out of the latest rankings after stumbling in their series with Notre Dame. The Hokies, 12-6 and 32-12 were at No. 20 prior to losing two of three to the Irish.

Notre Dame leads the conference with an average batting rate of .335. Clemson is tops in pitching holding an impressive 1.18 ERA. Clemson players hold the top two spots in ACC hitting and pitching stats. Ansley Houston and Valerie Cagle are tops in hitting while Brooke McCubbin and Cagle hold the top spots in pitching.
The 2023 ACC Softball Tournament is May 10-13 at Notre Dame. Will it be the Noles or Tigers who hold down the No. 1 seed?
