Syracuse, who as a No. 4 in the ACC Championship battled through No. 1 seed Notre Dame, 14-12 and No. 3 seed Duke, 9-8 to take home the conference title. Those efforts earned the Orange a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Duke is a No. 7 seed and North Carolina No. 8. Notre Dame, the national title holder in ’23 and ’24 received an at-large-bid. The Irish are looking for a shot at a three-peat.

The USILA Preseason Top 20 had Notre Dame as the top team followed by Cornell, Syracuse, Virginia and Princeton. The final polling placed Cornell at No. 1 followed by Ohio State, Maryland, Princeton and Syracuse. The Cavaliers, usually a dominant force in men’s lacrosse ended up at No. 19 and No. 13 in the NCAA RPI. A disappointing 6-8 overall record along with a 0-4 road record contributed to outcome.

The ACC as a conference has won 11 of the last 16 championships and between the five teams delivered 27 titles over the years. Can one of the four make it 28?
