As always we remind readers that we include Notre Dame in our poll as they play a partial conference schedule.
What’s changed since our college football preseason poll in June? Here’s a look at that poll. In June the top three teams were the same. We had Miami and Wake tied at fourth in the early rankings but with the sudden departure of Sam Hartman from the scene things have changed. Pitt leaps forward from their tie with North Carolina into the fourth position held by the Deacs. North Carolina drops a spot into a tie with Virginia at number seven. Boston College and Louisville were previously tied at eight but have gone their separate ways.
From the tenth position to number fifteen we have essentially the same group of teams that will have to earn their way up in the power poll.
College football gets into full swing this week with some important tests for conference teams that are ranked in the AP and Coaches’ Top 25.
