College Baseball ’25 | Virginia Tops ACC 7 In Rankings

College Baseball

College baseball could have only been better in 2024 if one of the four ACC teams making it into the MCWS brackets would have come home with a championship. It was not to be but everything else was as close to perfect as you could expect.

The conference was overflowing with talent and ranked teams. Duke captured the ACC Baseball Championship over Miami. With five teams hosting and eight teams in NCAA Regional action it felt right that one of these teams could make that final run in Omaha. Between Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia, NC State, Georgia Tech, Duke and Wake Forest surely one or more would have the light shine on them in the MCWS.

On the face of it things were better than anticipated as Virginia, North Carolina, Florida State and NC State locked in spots in Brackets 1 and 2. Unfortunately, it was not to be as the championship matchup ended up with Tennessee and Texas A&M.

5th Best Conference | ACC MBB Struggles. Why?

ACC baseball delivered in a different venue, though. In the 2024 MLB Draft a total of 65 players were selected. In the first round there were 7 and among the top 10 were 3 Wake Forest players, Chase Burns, Nick Kurtz and Seaver King, making the team the second only to ever achieve this feat behind 2004’s Rice.

This year’s D1Baseball Preseason Top 25 Rankings features 7 ACC teams with Virginia ranked at number 2.
