Beach Volleyball

Stanford and Florida State each head into their respective beach volleyball conference championships as the No. 1 seeds. Stanford and Cal, a No. 5 seed are each members of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).

All three teams are ranked in the Top 10 of the AVCA Beach Volleyball Top 20 rankings. The Cardinal hold down the No. 2 spot, the Noles the No. 4 spot and Bears are at No. 8.

With the dissolution of the PAC12, a majority of the former members, including Stanford and Cal moved to the MPSF to play beach volleyball.

Florida State has been a member of the Big 12 this past season but will join the MPSF at the conclusion of this season. The Seminoles were members of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) that added Beach Volleyball after NCAA recognition to their list of sports in 2015. The CCSA saw a significant exodus of schools to the MPSF and Big 12 and after 17 seasons of operation shut down.

The ACC requires 4 teams to consider a sport for recognition and inclusion in the conference. The NCAA requires 6 members in a conference sport to qualify for an auto-bid to the national championship. Currently with 3 conference member teams and the only chatter out in the public about a fourth team being Miami which has a healthy club team for women and men there may be reluctance by the aforementioned teams, who are all national powerhouses in the sport to forego an auto-bid even if a fourth member was added at the conference level.
