The writers who vote in the AP Top 25 have placed their faith in Alabama. The Crimson Tide easily outdistanced Clemson in the eyes of the voters for top spot in the preseason rankings.
Alabama tallied 42 of 61 First Place Votes (FPV) while Clemson picked up 18 and Wisconsin has 1 vote.
This is the third straight season that Alabama has begun as the preseason #1. Oklahoma still is tops in that category with 10 picks as the preseason favorites.
Four ACC teams plus Notre Dame made the final cut. Only Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame were consistently among the Top 25. As for Florida State and Virginia Tech? It’s a “show me” type of season.
Two conference teams are in the Receiving Votes (RV) category and in position to make their way into the Top 25.
