Week Thirteen: ACC Nation Pigskin Picks

Week Fourteen
ACC Nation Staff @accnation –

Are you ready for some more football? We head into week thirteen of ACC action and we still are in need of some answers. It’s possible we’ll find them this weekend. But, then again, the one thing we can always count on week after week? Why, more questions, of course. Head on over to the ACC Nation Power Poll to see how our voters think things stack up in the conference.

Last week, the only person taking a step out onto a limb was Will. He brought along the saw as well when he picked Navy over Notre Dame. Does he have any risky moves this week in the ACC Nation Pigskin Picks?

This week it appears as if Xayveon is dancing with the Devil or at the least, going against the flow. He’s picking Pitt to knock off Virginia Tech. One might imagine it’s because he likes to ‘stir the pot’. We’ll see how that stew turns out on Saturday.

Chris and Jim look like they’re going the safe route with their picks. You get the impression they’ve caught a case of conservative in order to protect their overall numbers. There’s no fun in that gentlemen.

Taking A Holiday Drive? Keep Up With ACC Nation Radio

ACC football gets underway on Thursday evening with NC State travelling to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have given a handful of teams a good run for the money up until last weekend when Virginia Tech flexed some muscle.

The Wolfpack have been struggling to find an identity this season and are not favored in this game. Can Dave Doeren pull a little extra out of his team? If NC State can pull off a win against Georgia Tech and then another against North Carolina next weekend they’d be looking at bowl eligibility.

The mad dash for the Coastal Division title gets into full swing this weekend. Pitt and Virginia Tech meet up in Blacksburg for an exciting battle in which the Hokies are favored. Justin Fuente and Bud Foster may have found the magic formula, albeit late in the season, to take them to the ACC Championship. If they get past Pitt they’ll have to knock off Virginia at Scott Stadium next weekend to collect all the marbles.

ACC Football

There are two games this weekend on ACC Network that on the face of it don’t seem to be much to talk about. Just when you think you have things figured out with ACC football you encounter a mash-up between a, ‘I never saw that coming’ team and ‘what happened to them this year’ team. There may be some fireworks in the Syracuse-Louisville game so we recommend a watch.

The final game on Saturday evening belongs to two long time Carolina rivals in Duke and Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons and Blue Devils have had opposing seasons. The folks in Winston-Salem haven’t been too thrilled as of late, primarily due to injuries but it’s been a solid season otherwise. Meanwhile in Durham, somewhere along the line the wheels came off a promising season. A lack of depth and experience certainly is factored into that discussion.

So, what will these two teams provide us in the way of entertainment in the night-cap? At this point in the season, it’s time to throw everything (including the proverbial kitchen sink) at your opponent. There’s still plenty of razzle-dazzle left in the magic sparkle bags of Dave Clawson and David Cutcliffe.
