Virginia Tech Leads ACC Women –

Day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and Virginia Tech leads ACC women at six on the team leader board.

The big news? Virginia Tech’s Irena Sediva picked up her second national championship in Javelin. The Senior won her first in 2015 and this year’s title caps her collegiate career.

Sediva was sidelined for last year’s competition with an Achilles injury and then dealt with a shoulder injury this spring.

Sediva, who trailed Florida’s Marija Vucenovic through the competition, held her best until her fifth throw. With a throw of 192′ 9″, Sediva bested Vucenovic by seven inches.

With Sediva’s win and two top 10 finishes in the Hammer, the Hokies tallied 11 points on opening day.
