United Soccer Women’s Top 25

Another week with Duke and North Carolina, both with 7-0 conference records, leading the way in the United Soccer Women’s Top 25. The Blue Devils with an overall 14-1 mark are tops both in the conference and for leading ACC teams in the poll.

The two front runners hold tight to their spot in the rankings. Meanwhile, Virginia and Wake Forest are moving up in the Top 25. The Cavaliers are up two spots while the Demon Deacons make a leap into the top 15 by moving seven spots.

Florida State drops two places this week.

Looking at teams in the RV category this week finds Notre Dame and Clemson still lurking outside the Top 25.

United Soccer Women’s Top 25 – Players Of The Week

The ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors go to Notre Dame’s Jennifer Westendorf while the Defensive Player of the Week honors go to Louisville’s Gabby Kouzelos.

Westendorf played a big role in Notre Dame picking up two wins that vaulted them into the Top 25 this week. Against #18 Florida State Westendorf netted two goals off free kicks that lifted the Irish to a 4-3 win. Notre Dame held off Miami for the win, 2-1. Westendorf has a season career high 8 goals.

Louisville’s Kouzelos tallied two shutouts last week. The first came against #15 Wake Forest and then #5 North Carolina as the Cardinals delivered 0-0 ties in both games. Kouzelos recorded a total of nine saves over the two games.

United Soccer Women’s Top 25 – ACC Nation Podcast

The ACC regular season wraps up on Thursday (October 26) with the seeds for the ACC Women’s Soccer Championship announced after the games.

The top four teams that are seeded will play host to quarterfinal action that begins this weekend (Sunday, October 29). Quarterfinal action will be played at campus sites with the semifinals and championship played in Charleston, SC.

Selection for the play in the 2017 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship is on Monday, November 6. The College Cup is slated for December 1 and 3 in Orlando.
