NCAA Softball Regional action gets underway Friday with nine ACC teams looking to punch their ticket to the WCWS in Oklahoma City the end of the month. Three conference teams will host play, No. 5 seed Florida State, No. 11 seed Clemson and No. 14 seed Duke. Florida State opens with Robert Morris, Clemson with USC Upstate and Duke will go up against Howard.
Florida State (updated schedule) will notch their 37th appearance in the tournament. With the 2025 ACC Coach of the Year, Lonni Alameda at the helm the Seminoles are looking for their first national title since 2018. Clemson won their first ACC Softball Championship this season and will host a regional for the third time. The Tigers played their first full season in 2021. Duke softball is also somewhat of a newbie in the conference having begun play in 2018. This is the Blue Devils fifth consecutive trip to the tournament and their fourth time hosting a regional.

Among the tougher Regionals are Tuscaloosa and Knoxville. No. 15 seed Alabama will have to deal with Virginia Tech a team that features the nation’s top HR hitter in Cori McMillan and the hot pitching of Emma Lemley. The Hokies were this close to hosting a Regional. No. 7 Tennessee will have to face off with North Carolina and of course, the Tar Heels need to shut down Ohio State first.
