The seedings for the 2019 ACC Field Hockey Championship has defending champion North Carolina at No. 1. The Tar Heels are the top team in the latest NFHCA Poll pulling in all 47 First Place Votes this week. Seven teams from the ACC are ranked in the Top 25 with all qualifying for conference championship play.
This year’s championship is schedule for November 7, 8 and 10 at Boston College Field Hockey Complex. ACC Network will provide coverage of all games except the late Friday semifinal which can be seen on ACCNX.
Play begins at noon on Thursday with No. 4 seed Syracuse facing off against No. 5 seed Louisville. The winner of this game will face North Carolina on Friday at 1:00pm ET.
The early afternoon match up finds No. 7 seed Wake Forest taking on No. 2 seed Boston College. That game begins at 2:30pm ET.
No. 3 seed Virginia will clash with No. 6 seed Duke in the late afternoon tilt beginning at 5:00pm ET.
Following the early Friday afternoon game with North Carolina is the second semifinal match at 3:30pm ET.
The final match up, the ACC Field Hockey Championship, is set for Sunday, November 10 at 11:00am ET.
Duke comes out of a rocky October schedule which saw them lose 3 out of 4 conference games. The Blue Devils were ranked No. 2 nationally beginning the month but fell to North Carolina 2-0 on October 4. They picked up a win against Wake Forest on October 11, 4-0. On October 18 Virginia pulled out an OT win 3-2 and then they finished the month with a loss to Louisville on the 26th, 1-0.
Can Duke recover from a brutal month? The match up between Duke and Virginia in quarterfinal action Thursday is their opportunity to get back into the game.
