It couldn’t be any clearer. ACC baseball teams need to take the path of playing for fun, Durham and Omaha to fulfill their season. The five conference teams mixing it up in the three major college baseball polls are succeeding thus far in the fun category. Durham is still more than a month away and Omaha, well we’ll see how the tournament pans out.

As always, we’ll take a look at the Top 25 from and the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Then we’ll look at that the NCBWA Top 30 and the NCAA RPI.

Let’s save some time and share that UCLA remains atop all three polls and the NCAA RPI as well. The Bruins have set up a formidable road block for teams dreaming of a College World Series title. Hold on, let’s not make it a done deal just yet. We’ve seen dominant performances during the regular season get snuffed out in the tournament before.

When it comes to conference domination of the polls, look no further than the SEC. The ACC latches on to just five spots while the SEC dominates all conferences with ten teams in the rankings. Who’s in and where do they stand? Let’s take a look.

D1Baseball/Coaches’ Poll/NCBWA

  • #3/4/5 NC State
  • #16/16/17 Clemson
  • #17/22/24 Georgia Tech
  • #20/14/12 Louisville
  • #21/18/19 North Carolina
  • RV
  • NR/#34/RV Florida State
  • NR/NR/RV Miami

The Wolfpack are the clear front-runner in the conference, at least from the standpoint of national rankings. As is often the case, teams find themselves being tossed like a salad in the rankings throughout the season. A big win or even an unexpected loss can send a team zooming or plummeting in the numbers.

Let’s break out the ACC teams that are currently in the NCAA RPI Top 50. Are there surprises? Well, of course. Here’s a look.
