North Carolina and Florida State get the privilege of lighting the fuse for the 2022 season with games on Saturday, August 27. The Seminoles entertain Duquesne and the Tar Heels host Florida A&M. What about the rest of the schedule for conference teams? The 70th season features 56 conference matchups and 56 non-conference games. Upon close examination the ACC is upping the level of competition.
Labor Day Weekend will see 12 games for ACC teams over five days beginning on Thursday, September 1.

For the first time in years both ACC Divisions present a higher level of competitiveness. The race toward the ACC Football Championship in Charlotte will likely be far more furious than fans are used to and that’s not a bad thing.
The ESPN Way-Too-Early Top 25 has four ACC+1 teams ranked in the top 15. At No. 6 is Notre Dame, NC State is No. 8, Clemson No. 11 and Wake Forest comes in at No. 14. The ACC Nation Way-Too-Early Power Poll (a reflection of early betting lines) features Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, NC State and Pitt in the top 5. With spring games and more spots being filled by transfer portal players the next update of our rankings (which will be by staff) certainly stands a good chance of seeing a shift in the rankings.
