Last year’s NFHCA Preseason Top 25 was ACC top heavy with North Carolina and Duke neck and neck at #1 and #2. The Tar Heels had more points in the voting while the Blue Devils were one point ahead in First Place Votes.
A total of 7 conference teams graced the early poll and populated the top 15 at the end of the season. Only one team from the ACC didn’t make it into the NCAA Tournament. Boston College finished in the top 14 however only the top 13 teams advanced to post season play.
This year’s Preseason Top 25 features 7 conference teams and echoes a great deal of the final 2017 NFHCA poll.
With a nod to the reigning national champions UConn tops the preseason rankings. However, it’s by no means a runaway vote. The Huskies pull in 979 points in voting and grab 19 First Place Votes but North Carolina is a tight second. The Tar Heels have 966 points and 18 First Place Votes going into the 2018 season.
Last year’s second ranked team in the poll, Duke, isn’t far behind with 908 points and the Blue Devils garnered 1 First Place Vote.
