NFHCA Field Hockey Top 25

Field Hockey

After the initial first week shuffle in the NFHCA Field Hockey Top 25 the dust begins to settle. There’s a struggle going on to hold the top spot. This week it belongs to the ACC.

It’s still a seven team picture for conference teams with three teams making significant moves in the poll. Two for the better and one not so much.

The top spot in the conference and this week’s Top 25 belongs to North Carolina. It’s not a consensus among voters however as the Tar Heels pulled in just 16 first place votes. Tops among those receiving votes is last week’s number one team, UConn with 24 votes. Maryland comes in at #3 with 3 first place tallies.

The ACC places six field hockey teams in the top 15 while one team slips 6 spots and almost out of the poll.

North Carolina’s Catherine Hayden and Duke’s Rose Tynan have been named ACC Field Hockey Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Boston College goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

What was slated to be a busy weekend for field hockey teams has been interrupted by weather and safety concerns. Be sure to check your team’s website for postponements.
