Miami leapt six spots in the latest D1 Baseball Top 25 following a weekend sweep of then No. 3 Virginia. The Canes, who are on top of the ACC with a 13-2 record have a 13 game winning streak going and it moved them into the No. 2 slot of the poll. With the hit, the Cavaliers, who have also been on a tear fall five spots to No. 8.
It’s a mixture of good news/bad news for conference teams in this week’s polling. Virginia Tech debuted at No. 21 following home series wins over then No. 21 NC State. The volatility of college baseball polling send the Pack tumbling out of the rankings. Unfortunately for ACC fans NC State wasn’t the only team to take a hit. Florida State and North Carolina, formerly No.’s 20 and 22 both tripped up following series losses to Georgia Tech and Louisville.
