Georgia Tech Lures Celtics’ Stoudamire | ’24 Optimistic

Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech wants back in the spotlight and Athletic Director J Batt who rolled in from Alabama late last year is wasting no time in putting the Yellow Jackets front and center. Last week Batt moved the men’s basketball team on past the Josh Pastner era when the head coach was let go. Normally, within the ACC at least, there always seems to be a lengthy search period between coaches that often involves some form of consultancy. With the pending announcement of Boston Celtics assistant coach Damon Stoudamire in short order following the dismissal of Pastner it’s apparent that Batt was ahead of the ‘old’ game and intent of establishing new ground rules for the Ramblin’ Wreck.

According to reports by ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Stoudamire and Georgia Tech are finalizing a 5-year contract that is expected to be approved Monday afternoon by the Board of Trustees. Thamel reported and The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach confirms that Stoudamire has informed the Celtics of the move. No official word from the NBA at this point.
