Fire In The Hole | Duke 9 Having A Blast

Fire

Duke baseball is on fire. The Blue Devils have taken the lead in the Coastal Division of the ACC and made a huge leap in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 college baseball rankings. They’re followed in both by Miami who is finding their second wind as the ACC Baseball Tournament rapidly approaches. Virginia holds down the third spot in the division. It’s not all peaches and cream for ACC teams, though. Louisville stumbled in their weekend series and the losses find the Cardinals on the outside of the rankings looking in.

It’s not quite as bad for Boston College and Virginia but worrisome enough that perhaps they need some fire heading into the final stretch. The Eagles and Cavaliers dropped out of the top 15, both getting dinged 8 spots following their weekend excursions. Clemson took two of three from Boston College and Duke delivered a wake-up call to the Wahoos as they also took two of three in their series.

Wake Forest played out of conference against Wofford and High Point and shellacked both, 18-5 and 15-0. The Demon Deacons lead the Atlantic Division with an in-conference record of 16-4 and 37-6 overall. Boston College holds a conference record of 13-11 and are 29-14 overall. Notre Dame holds the third spot and sport a similar ACC win-loss tab with a 25-17 overall record.
