When it comes to collegiate field hockey you won’t find any better run than the ACC has had. The conference, courtesy of North Carolina has claimed 5 of the past 6 NCAA Titles. That’s an amazing run. The latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Top 20 includes 7 conference teams and should give you an idea of just how competitive the conference can be.
This season sees the addition of Cal and Stanford to the teams competing for a piece of pie as well making it a 9 team free for all.

Virginia was selected as the preseason favorite and the Cavaliers are currently riding a 9 game win streak while the Tar Heels, who sit atop the poll have a 6-0 overall record. Boston College is the only other undefeated team in conference play and the Eagles hold a 7-2 overall record.

The season got off to an exciting start and has been full of highly competitive games. Louisville took Maryland into a double overtime finale but came up short 2-1. Duke and Virginia both came up with 1-0 wins over Maryland later. A Virginia-Cal matchup saw the Hoos come out with a 4-3 over the Bears. Later, Virginia defeated Duke 1-0, Boston College came away with a 1-0 win over Louisville and Duke matched that score in their game over Syracuse. Louisville is just a hair away from breaking bad on their opponents. The Cards dropped an overtime game to Ohio State 4-3. It’s just a matter of time before things come together for Louisville.
