2024 was a wild ride for ACC softball with Duke ruling the roost with a win over Florida State in the ACC Softball Championship. The Blue Devils along with Florida State, Clemson, Virginia and Virginia Tech grabbed spots in the NCAA Tournament. Ultimately, Duke, a tournament No. 10 seed made it to the WCWS and battled it out against No. 2 Oklahoma who brought home the championship trophy. While still in the PAC 12 No. 8 seed Stanford fought it out with and lost to Texas. Now the Cardinal joins the wild bunch in the ACC.

The ACC Preseason Coaches’ Poll Top 5 have Duke, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Stanford and Virginia filling in the top spots. Looking at last year’s final D1Softball Top 25 Stanford was ranked 4, Duke 7, Florida State 14, Virginia Tech 19 and Cal 27.

College Baseball ’25 | Virginia Tops ACC 7 In Rankings
The ACC season begins February 6 with two games of note – No. 8 Florida State takes on No. 5 Oklahoma State and NC State faces off with No. 15 Georgia. Both games have the potential to rearrange the seating at the rankings table in Week 1. On the 7th the No. 7 Blue Devils gets underway with a matchup against No. 25 Penn State and also Louisville takes on No. 24 Liberty.
Boston College will host the 2025 ACC Softball Tournament May 7-10.
