Are you ready for more college football action? Let’s stir up those brain cells with the following set of facts heading into the schedule. First, the Top 5 teams in the ACC football standings are: Louisville, Florida State, North Carolina, Duke and….hold on….Virginia Tech. Now, that’s based upon their conference record. If we go to the overall record it is as follows: Louisville, Florida State, North Carolina, Miami and both Duke and Syracuse are tied for that fifth spot.
Dropping the divisions has turned the ACC into more of a horse race and infinitely more interesting from week to week. Toss in the fact that there are more ranked teams, better competition and infinitely better access to the games via television and you’ve got a winner.

The increased level of competition in the ACC is also forcing the hands of coaches to make adjustments to personnel sooner. Two examples this past week were the changes at quarterback at NC State and Pitt. How will these changes impact the Pack and Panthers? We’ll find out on Saturday with the Wolfpack as they host Marshall. Pitt has time to make adjustments before they face Louisville at home on October 14.
