College Football

The first three games of a college football season will tell you all you need to know about a team. We’re in week two and just like the old ’49er panning a creek the gold is beginning to show.

If you caught a game or two this weekend it will behoove you to watch all the highlights. It will give you a better feel for where a team is headed.

This week’s worth of highlights brings out some of the best while at times showing the worst. Put aside the wins and losses and look closer at execution. What are teams doing right? What are they doing wrong?

In week three, we’ll find out just how much coaching staffs can get out of their players. Has all the practice and fine tuning paid off? Ready or not the meat of the schedule is about to be thrust upon teams.

Duke headed to Northwestern and the word on the street was they were going to be overmatched. The final score speaks to those theories.

The opening play of the highlights of Georgia Tech-USF tells you that things didn’t go well for the Yellow Jackets. One of the weaknesses of the team over the years has been defense and special teams play. That, along with some key injuries sealed the deal.

NC State used their game with Georgia State to get their ducks in a row for the upcoming game with West Virginia. Worth watching for the finesse that Ryan Finley brings to the game.

Boston College exercised AJ Dillon’s wheels in this game against Holy Cross.

What happens when Josh Jackson gets unleashed? The Hokies found their offensive wheels this week against William & Mary.

Freshman quarterback Sam Hartman and wide receiver Greg Dortch put on a show for home fans against Towson.

Syracuse unleashes Eric Dungey and the offense on Wagner. Special teams comes up with a nice play. See if you can keep your eye on the ball with the first two plays.

The first half saw North Carolina and ECU swapping scores. By the second half the Pirates had figured out the Tar Heels and never looked back.

Miami seems to have worked out their problems on offense against Savannah State. Malik Rosier had a number of downfield strikes that erased week one from our memories.

Notre Dame came away with the win against Ball State but left some unimpressive play on the field.

College Football Rewind

Clemson got off to a good start against Texas A&M but couldn’t quite seal the deal until the very last moment.

*Heavy rain blurred some shots and created noise in the background.  Virginia gave it their best shot against Indiana and showed improvement on offense.

The Keystone rivalry game was all Penn State as Pitt was overwhelmed by the Nittany Lions.

Louisville rolled to a 31-7 win over Indiana State in yet another rain soaked event from the weekend. Has Bobby Petrino decided on another quarterback to lead the Cardinals? Check out Malik Cunningham who stepped in for “Puma” Pass.

Samford came into the Seminoles house and owned them until they didn’t. Deondre Francois stepped up and helped deliver a comeback win for Florida State.
