Last year’s NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship runner-up, Florida State, kicks off 2019 at No. 3 in the AVCA Preseason Poll. The Seminoles are three-time Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) champions. In 2018, Florida State had their best season to date with 33 wins. They finished their year with just one loss in the NCAA Tournament.

UCLA tops the poll at No. 1 following last year’s performance and pull 27 first place votes. Southern California moves up from last year’s No. 5 to No. 2. Florida State drops a notch from No. 2 to No. 3 and pick up 1 first place vote in the balloting. Last year’s No. 4 team, Pepperdine debut in the same spot this season and have 2 first place votes. Rounding out the top 5 is Hawai’i who drops from last year’s No. 3.

Fourth year head coach Brooke Niles is looking to break through that final barrier to a national title. The team will begin that journey with a first ever season opening home tournament February 23-24. The Seminoles will host CCSA opponents No. 7 LSU, No. 9 South Carolina and No. 18 Tulane. In addition to the in-conference teams they’ll face No. 6 Cal Poly and Tampa.
