What is the allure of being a part of college baseball’s Top 25? It’s confirmation that your efforts are paying off. Coming out of this weekend’s action ACC teams are knocking back 7 spots in the latest D1Baseball Top 25. The hard work is making for some happy Hokies as Virginia Tech rises into the elite with a spot in the top 5.
Two unranked conference teams returned to the poll with solid weekend series performances. Georgia Tech took 2 of 3 from Miami who was previously ranked No. 3. The Yellow Jackets went 3-1, 7-5 and 2-13 against the Canes.
Florida State delivered a message against TCU who was previously ranked No. 20 with two wins in their series with the third game cancelled due to weather. The Noles won 10-0 and 7-3.

In other action involving Top 25 ACC teams – Notre Dame took 2 of 3 of their games with Boston College going 4-7, 11-5 and 16-10 against the Eagles in the Friday, Saturday and Sunday schedule. Louisville swept Clemson, 7-2, 10-8 and 18-15.
When it comes to allure, in-state rivals the Hokies and Cavaliers can’t resist an opportunity to knock heads. This time the bragging rights went to Virginia Tech who took 2 of 3 games against Virginia, 5-2, 3-6 and 7-5 to push up two spots in this week’s poll.

When it comes to the divisional races in the conference Louisville leads the Atlantic with a 14-7 ACC record followed by Notre Dame, NC State and Florida State. On the Coastal side Miami is 17-7 followed by Virginia Tech, Virginia and Georgia Tech.
The final regular season games will be played on Saturday, May 21 with the ACC Baseball Tournament May 24-29. The allure of Omaha is getting stronger.
