The first round of the ACC Tournament for men’s basketball lights up the house at the Barclays Center on Tuesday. Maybe you can’t roll out a black and white TV like they used to do when your grandparents were in school, and yes, that really happened. But, it’s a lot simpler today as all you’ll need is an App on your phone to watch the day games. It could be argued that this season’s version of ACC men’s basketball has been, well, let’s just say a bit flat. Don’t be fooled, when it comes to the tournament it’s no holds barred time.
It could be argued that teams that don’t have any post-season hopes have no dogs in this hunt. The pride that accompanies athleticism works wonders in kicking in the adrenaline when it’s most needed. If you have kept an eye on the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament you will find a great example in Miami who rode that wave to the championship game.

Pitt and Boston College split their regular season series. The first game went to the Panthers 69-67 while the Eagles took game two 69-56. Boston College will have to shut down Pitt’s John Hugely if they have hopes of moving forward in the ACC Tournament.
Clemson is on an uptick while NC State has been struggling. The two teams have both played Wake Forest and Boston College in the last few weeks with the Tigers winning and the Pack dropping their matchups. Oddsmakers are going strong with Clemson.
Both Louisville and Georgia Tech have struggled with road games. What’s the difference maker here? The Yellow Jackets and Cardinals have both been losing but one team is keeping it close while the other simply flounders. Trends favor Georgia Tech.

When comparing Florida State and Syracuse it looks as if the best orange isn’t found in upstate New York. Even though the Seminoles have been inconsistent this season they do have some solid wins in late season over NC State, Virginia, Notre Dame and have even notched their belts earlier in the year against Duke. Syracuse has had a very bumpy ride down the stretch. But this is a team that knows how to handle the ball, limit turnovers and have not just one Boeheim but three to contend with. This looks like an even match. Only the tournament will tell.
