Golf | ACC Tops Fall Play, Spring ’26 Is Promising

Would you be surprised if the two national runners-up from last year’s NCAA Golf Championship were sitting on top of the Scoreboard collegiate team rankings? Virginia’s men and Stanford’s women are indeed the number one teams and the 2026 Spring season is looking really good for the ACC.

The Cavaliers have an ever improving Ben James who did not finish outside of the top 3 individually in three event to help lead them into play. The senior is also the top ranked individual in men’s golf. The Cardinal, absolutely dominant in stroke play look to further improve match play this season. Leading Stanford is Megha Ganne who is at No. 4 in the fall individual rankings.

With the departure of David Ford at North Carolina and Luke Clanton at Florida State, both of whom turned pro both teams are in need of someone to fill those shoes. Transfer Niall Sheils Donegan may be the answer for the Tar Heels while it remains to be seen who steps up for the Noles.
