The clock is ticking louder every hour as the 2023 ACC Football Championship at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte draws near. With the advent of a conference schedule that became unshackled by divisions ACC football became a free-wheeling slug-fest this season.

There’s been plenty of talk about the rise of Florida State and that this would be the year that Mike Norvell helped the Noles re-emerge as a conference football leader. With just a quick glance there is a simple realization that Norvell had finally reached a point at which both talent and depth were on his side.

Meanwhile, just about 665 miles to the north moves were being made to bring Louisville football out of a slumber. It started with the hiring of Jeff Brohm. What used to feel like a pall surrounding the program slinked away and became distant memories. Talk began to make quick rounds that the Cardinals were on the rebound. Fans were open about this being a team that would, not could be knocking at the door to Louisville’s first ACC Football Championship appearance. Was there skepticism? Certainly, but mostly from outside observers.

And now, after Spring ball, a long Summer and Fall camp the season began with Louisville battling it out with a rebuilding Georgia Tech for a 39-34 win and Florida State drubbing LSU, 45-24. The messages were mixed. Questions arose and observers weren’t as convinced that Louisville would be the team that everyone was touting.

On the other hand, the convincing win by Florida State over SEC foe LSU delivered a clear and resounding message to those who had any lingering doubts. The Seminoles were for real and they were coming for a title in the ACC Football Championship.

As the season progressed the numbers began to stack up and even though both teams had their struggles those who were paying close attention began to see both teams in a clearer light. The same can be said for multiple teams within the ACC as the conference has made a leap in performance and potential.

And now, it’s time to place these two teams head to head in the ACC Football Championship. All the hopes and dreams of players and fans will be decided in 60 minutes of action. Will Florida State claim yet another title or will Louisville announce their arrival by bringing home a trophy? Get ready for some badass football and the best part of all? Both teams will get an additional shot at proving themselves in a high level bowl appearance.

The ACC has named Florida State’s Mike Norvell as the Coach of the Year. The top 4 –

  • Brent Key

The Player of the Year Award goes to Jordan Travis, QB, Florida State. Travis was also named Offensive Player of the Year. The Defensive Player of the Year Award goes to Payton Wilson, LB, NC State.

ACC Rookie of the Year and Rookie Offensive Player of the Year honors go to Kevin Concepcion, WR, NC State. The ACC Rookie Defensive Player of the Year honor goes to Reuben Bain, Jr, DL, Miami.
